“We have to be differentiators in what we sell”

Madalena Bravo, responsible for Finogold, a company created in Gondomar almost 100 years ago, says this. In a brief conversation with JoiaPro, she talks about the products the company offers, highlighting that they have “collections for all tastes”. The person responsible for the Porto company also highlights that in goldsmithing it is necessary to pay attention to details and store displays that “are the calling card” for customers.

In addition to rings, what other products do you offer?

Rings are our ex-libris, but we also have all the complements for newlyweds: from earrings, necklaces and bracelets, engagement rings, dating rings… We have, in our portfolio, some partners such as Eugénio Campos, Topázio, Inês Barbosa, Nana, Maxímo Betro, and White Diamonds. We offer silver decoration accessories, jewelry, and accessories for babies and children.

You mention on your website that your collection has “more than 1,500 models, from the traditional to the most modern and daring”. What characterizes your collections?

We have collections for all tastes. We have the traditional, simple and plain, and the most modern. In the ring collection, we have very different models, with filigree applications, stone applications, satin, and more minimalist rings. We have a little bit of everything and one of the things that characterizes us is the ability to customize, depending on each person’s budget. Although people often like rings that are more expensive than their budget, we manage, within what we have, and we have a lot, to come up with alternatives. We adjust to the customer and not the other way around. We have this capacity, on the one hand, because we produce and, on the other, because we know our products well.

What message would you like to leave to JoiaPro readers and your collaborators?

To my collaborators and everyone who comes across me, from employees to salespeople, I want to thank you, because in everything I need, you are there to help. I’ve been in this business for a few years and I feel truly supported. I have a spectacular team. To my professional colleagues, don’t give up! We have, as in all businesses, good and bad phases, but we cannot give up and regret it. We have to continue to invest in our businesses, change and move forward. In goldsmithing we sell luxury, so we have to be differentiators in what we sell. Invest in window displays, invest time in this, because they are the store’s calling card. And another thing: be friendly and attentive, because this is the only way we can satisfy the customer. It’s wrong to think that we’re here to sell, we’re here to find out what the customer wants and, as a result, sell, so don’t slack off.
