The International Jewellery, Goldsmithery and Watch Fair returned to Exponor after a prolonged absence due to the recent pandemic. Around 100 exhibitors presented technological advances and talents of new creators who are “transforming the sector”. “Togetherness” was the motto for bringing together seven designers and nine foreign companies, in an event that took place between the 22nd and 25th September 2022.

“Innovation, digital migration and inclusion” were the key themes at the 31st Edition of Portojóia. “Globalisation and interculturality” explain the inspiration behind the motto of this exhibition. “Togetherness” represents a jewellery that is increasingly open, innovative and inclusive, highlighting, new approaches and new visions, through approximately 150 exhibitors and creators, all of whom have the collective as their driving force.

According to Amélia Estevão, Exponor’s marketing director, “Portojóia reaffirms to brands and professionals the support in their transitions to a 4.0 Industry, and to the digital environment – two of the most common consequences of the pandemic context – without neglecting the respect for the most traditional forms of art”.

For Exponor’s marketing director, “Portojóia’s return exceeded expectations. Besides fulfilling the purpose of bringing exhibitors together again and creating business opportunities, this new edition of the fair reflected future themes that are already transforming the sector – Web 3.0 and NFT’s in jewellery as well as genderless jewellery are some examples”.

The organisation was impressed with the attendance of six thousand visitors, stating that they are also “very satisfied with the quality of those who visit us”. “I have had the opportunity to speak with some companies and what they have said is that these exhibitions are exceeding their expectations. There are very interesting businesses and which attend, there are clients from Portugal, Angola and even Spain. For us, it is very gratifying to feel that clients are doing business”, says Amélia Estevão.

One of the novelties of this fair is the E+E Porto platform, an “interesting” tool to extend contacts with new clients. For Amélia Estevão, the platform “allows the creation of a hybrid format for fairs, in which we seek to create a global ecosystem and sharing between brands, manufacturers, emerging designers and potential buyers. In this sector, the role of these new creators is also important. This is a sector with its own characteristics, which have companies where business reaches high financial values, therefore it is necessary to create a trusting relationship. This can be achieved through face-to-face meeting at a physical fair, which can then be extended to a digital format.”
