Rui Castro, head of the Datalíder company with 30 years’ experience in the sector, says it all. In what is now the fourth generation of goldsmiths, Rui Castro is the most visible face of a team that develops 360º applications in the goldsmithing sector, always to “make life easier for all customers”.

Datalíder was created to respond to what needs?

Datalíder was born because our sector didn’t have specific software to solve the problems of goldsmiths. Most goldsmiths worked with standard solutions that didn’t solve their problems. You had to have a calculator next to you to be able to do accounts, to be able to sell, because metal prices influence sales and invoicing. And Datalíder, because of its experience and the needs we were being asked to meet, began to create specific solutions, so that the customer only has to worry about selling and not about accounts or quotations. Everything that is sold in retail has to be translated into a final price for the public, so it is imperative that the solution “knows” how to do the math automatically, taking into account the purchase formulas, size, size gram, or total size gram. The customer no longer has to worry about anything else, they just have to look after their business.

What are the main advantages over the competition?

The main advantage is that we have a solution designed around the way the jeweler works. We’ve been developing software for 30 years. We never have finished software, there’s always a new client with a new need. Our great advantage is that we have a team of people who know what they’re doing and our history conveys this. I’ve been in the goldsmithing business since I was six years old. My father was a goldsmith, my wife is a goldsmith. We’re already in the fourth generation of goldsmiths. We develop any specific application for this area.
