The figures revealed that, in the first half of the year, there was an increase in services, with “more than 34,000 customers” and the arrival of “around 2.5 million pieces”, with an “express rate (corresponding to more than 50%) delivered, on average, in less than 6 hours”, states the Assay Office.

Since the beginning of the year, “more than 6 tonnes of precious metal” have been delivered to the Portuguese Assay Office. Dematerialisation services “have also grown, reaching figures close to the total for 2022 in the first half of the year alone,” says the Official and Integrated Technical Service of the Portuguese Mint.

The Assay Office data “confirms the expectations of growth” in the sector as, compared to 2022, there has been “a 3% increase in the volume of pieces entering the Assay Office in the north of the country”.

For the Assay Office, these figures “are also a reflection of the daily efforts of its team to respond to this surprising pace”.
