Portugal Jewels wins Iconic Awards 2026

Imagem da notícia: Portugal Jewels wins Iconic Awards 2026

The Portugal Jewels store on Rua Áurea, in Lisbon, has been honoured with an Iconic Awards 2026 in the Retail and Commercial category. Organised by the German Design Council, this year’s Iconic Awards drew around 800 entries from more than 45 countries, including projects from international brands and institutions such as Deutsche Telekom and the Grand Egyptian Museum.

The award recognises the restoration of the space at number 157 Rua Áurea, designed by Ricardo Preto, for the way it combines heritage, contemporary design and references to Portuguese culture. Rather than starting from scratch, Portugal Jewels chose to preserve the identity of a house more than 200 years old and give it new life, keeping the façade, the structure and the building’s historic elements.

For Portugal Jewels, the award represents international recognition of a simple idea: some spaces only need to be preserved, understood and given back to the city so that they make sense in the present again. On Rua Áurea, where jewellery has been part of Lisbon’s history for more than two centuries, the story continues.
