New Amália Collection by Portugal Jewels
Portugal Jewels presents its new “Amália Rodrigues” collection, created in partnership with the Amália Rodrigues Foundation. This line comprises seven pieces crafted from noble materials worthy of the artist: earrings, rings, necklaces, and bracelets that combine 19.2 kt Portuguese gold with emeralds and diamonds.
Blending past, present, and future — a habitual motto of the brand — the collection gives an even richer twist to Portugal Jewels’ DNA, with the visual campaign developed in collaboration with French artist Sébastien Notre, from Studio Collages.
The first collaboration between Portugal Jewels and the Amália Rodrigues Foundation transported us into a more intimate and human dimension of the artist. The “Amália e as Flores” collection, launched in May of last year, explored Amália’s relationship with flowers, capturing her unique connection with nature, as well as her personal style. Those 15 original pieces remain available in the brand’s retail outlets and on its website.
Fado, Elegance, and Memory, in the Form of Jewelry
Amália was said to have been born “in the time of cherries” — a phrase used by her maternal grandmother to place her birth sometime between May and July, without a precise date. Yet Amália herself was always exact: it was simply “the time of cherries.” Later, she even painted cherries on her living room wall, as though she wanted to capture the fleeting taste of childhood memories.
It is from this tender and intimate memory that the new Portugal Jewels collection emerges, created in collaboration with the Amália Rodrigues Foundation. Amália in the Time of Cherries is a second celebration by the brand of the woman behind the myth — intense, deeply connected to the land, and profoundly rooted in simplicity and silence.
The cherry blossom motif comes to life in pieces made of 19.2 kt Portuguese gold, adorned with emeralds that evoke the green of the lands where fado is sung. These jewels are delicate yet intense — eternal, yet alive. Each piece is an extension of a gesture, an emotion. As if saudade could be worn close to the heart.
One particularly special creation will also be available at the Millennium Shopping Center: a Diamond Independent Heart Necklace, a rare jewel that transforms jewelry into a meaningful tribute.
