To celebrate the centenary of its foundation, Joalharia do Carmo celebrates its history, highlighting a technique that has become its true passion in the last two years. This alliance guaranteed the continuity of the artisans’ art, but also highlighted their work in the most recent exhibition within the scope of the Quarteirão das Artes and the MNAC national project, “Portugal entre Patrimónios”.

The big news lies in the initiative of Joalharia do Carmo to be the pioneer in the pilot project of the Imprensa Nacional-Casa da Moeda – UniqueMark® Digital Certificate – which brings the precious metals certification process into the digital era, in what is the oldest form of consumer protection.

Through the official Contrastaria App, the UniqueMark® Digital Certificate provides a comprehensive view of the jewelry, from the laboratory test to the affixing of the hallmark. Each piece is equipped with a label and a card with a unique cryptographic code, ensuring the traceability and legitimacy of the pieces.

In addition to displaying unique handmade pieces, it is the first brand to have jewelry with the digital certificate of Contrastaria Portuguesa, a project of INCM Imprensa Nacional – Casa da Moeda. Two years ago, the brand signed a cooperation protocol with ACertifica, a certifying entity, and the municipalities of Gondomar and Póvoa de Lanhoso, the two major production centers where Filigrana is Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Founded on January 14, 1924, and accustomed, in the first decades, to receiving Lisbon’s elite, Joalharia do Carmo is today a space that gives the stage to the most transversal of Portuguese jewelry arts: Filigree.
