“We have an immense passion for what we do”

Ana Isabel Castro is the face of Pedro Castro e Oliveiras (PCO), a packaging company that was founded in 2001 in Gondomar. PCO has been in the market for 22 years and its mission is to “develop and produce reliable, quality packaging to accommodate, protect and embellish our clients’ items”. She reveals that everyone in the company works with great passion, which is the key to success.

What is the history of Embalagens Pedro Castro e Oliveiras?

Our company was set up in 1997 by Pedro Castro, my husband, who came from a jewellery export company. Pedro was a young man with a very clear idea of what he wanted and, with his discipline, rigour and resilience, he set out and conquered the Nordic market with a collection of jewellery for men. In the meantime, things grew and, in 2001, Pedro and I expanded the company into a partnership, creating Pedro Castro e Oliveiras, Lda (PCO). With this new partnership in the company, a new sector of jewellery packaging was also born. The two sectors remain side by side, although in Portugal the packaging sector is more recognised. In the meantime, we’ve gained representation abroad, one of them since 2001, with the Condevera brand, which manufactures cases and trays for jewellery. In 2009, we also took on Dalingher, a 150-year-old brand with a lot of prestige and for which we are the only representatives in Portugal. It was a great partnership that gave us a lot of impetus because, as well as having very diverse materials, they are constantly updating and paying attention to all environmental concerns. Over time, the company has added new employees, who are fundamental pillars for the success, growth and recognition of PCO Embalagens.
