Current Economic Situation Marked First JoiaPro Meeting

Domingos Barroso, Fabior, believes that working in the jewellery market, is very challenging. “The raw materials are very expensive, there’s a huge loss on the part of the manufacturer and a lot of embezzlement in the production process… only 300 of every 500 grams are sold, the rest I have to recover myself, or I’ll lose money on my job. The manufacturer is not being compensated as he should be, there are many difficulties”.

Pedro Guimarães, of Ourivesaria Pereirinha, stated that “our products lack margin. If we had a better margin, we would be able to earn more, recruit the best professionals, and import better resources. We all need to earn money and we have to push the margins of our business. We have to sell at a higher price, there is no other choice. We cannot sell at a loss. Or else we will die”.
