Filigrano of Gondomar in Expo 2020 Dubai
It was signed in Arabic Room of the Stock Exchange Palace, Porto, the protocol that takes Filigrana de Gondomar to the Middle East, to Expo Dubai, which will take place between October 1st 2021 and March 31st 2022.
Under the motto “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future”, “quality and authenticity” guarantees “alignment of Filigrana de Condomar” with the objectives of Portugal’s participation in the Exhibition.
Curiously, the protocol that takes Filigrana de Gondomar to the Middle East was signed in the Arabic Room of the Stock Exchange Palace. This “crown jewel” of Gondomar jewellery will arrive in Dubai in December this year.
According to Marco Martins, President of the Municipal Council of Gondomar, “recovering tourism in the region” is urgent, being a “pride for Gondomar to take Filigree to Dubai.” The mayor recalled the actions of the Executive aiming at the “promotion of this secular art, such as the creation of the Filigree Route and the future Municipal Museum of Filigree of Gondomar”.
Expo 2020 Dubai will take place between 1st of October 2021 and 31st of March 2022, promoting an “economic, scientific, technological and cultural exchange between several countries.”
The programme in the Portuguese pavilion was “defined on the basis of classifications and nominations for Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.”
The presence of the Municipality of Gondomar comes “following the submission of Filigrana de Gondomar to the National Inventory.”
