“Our traditional jewelry is much more than filigree”

Imagem da notícia: “Our traditional jewelry is much more than filigree”

Heirs of a historical company – Portugal Jewels – and faithful followers of family tradition, siblings Alexandre and Joana Gomes discuss the parallelism of traditional and modern jewelry.

JoiaPro: Will the company’s concept always be based on the alliance between tradition and modernity?

Alexandre Gomes: Portugal Jewels was born from the desire to promote and bring value to Portuguese jewelry by recovering the traditional models and designs, with a contemporary approach. We want to show that our traditional jewelry is much more than filigree and introduce other products. We are always researching books on Portuguese jewelry, looking for inspiration for new models – we want them all to have a Portuguese soul. In commercial terms, in addition to the jewelry shops market in the Greater Lisbon, we focus on distribution in cultural and tourist sites, where consumers value Portuguese art and history.
