CINDOR Opens Training Hub in Porto
CINDOR — the Professional Training Centre for the Goldsmithery and Watchmaking Industry — inaugurated its new Training Hub in Porto on November 14, 2025, located on the historic Rua das Flores. The space, provided by Grupo O Valor do Tempo, is fully dedicated to specialized jewellery training, with an emphasis on certified hand filigree, reinforcing CINDOR’s mission to preserve and enhance a cultural, artistic, and technical heritage that is deeply rooted in Portuguese identity.
Established 40 years ago through an agreement between IEFP, I.P. and AORP — the Portuguese Association of Goldsmithery and Watchmaking — CINDOR has built a distinguished legacy in professional qualification, the dissemination of traditional know-how, and the promotion of Made in Portugal Jewellery. Four decades later, it finally opens its doors in Porto — a historic city renowned for its arts, crafts, and Portuguese jewellery.
The inauguration ceremony brought together several prominent institutional representatives from the fields of education, culture, economy, and regional development, including the Mayor of Porto, Pedro Duarte; the Secretary of State for Tourism, Trade and Services, Pedro Machado; the President of Turismo Porto and Norte de Portugal, Luís Pedro Martins; the Northern Regional Delegate of IEFP, César Ferreira; and IEFP Board Member Glória Liberal. Representatives from AORP, municipal officials from artisan-rich regions, cultural and academic institutions, and strategic partners from the Centre and the sector also attended.
During the event, CINDOR Director Eunice Neves guided guests through the Centre’s facilities, presenting the training project and strategic objectives of this new Hub, which will offer specialized training, temporary exhibitions, creative workshops, artistic residencies, and initiatives open to both national and international audiences. The space aims to establish itself as a hub of knowledge, experimentation, and innovation, where tradition meets creativity and technique intersects with contemporary vision.
A Collaboration Agreement between Grupo O Valor do Tempo and CINDOR was signed, formalizing the provision of the facilities and institutional cooperation for the development of joint projects.
For CINDOR’s Director, this inauguration symbolizes much more than the opening of a new space:
“This Hub represents the natural expansion of CINDOR and reinforces our commitment to the future of Portuguese Jewellery and Filigree. Here, tradition is not only preserved — it gains new hands, new forms, and new ideas. We train professionals, but also successors to a technical heritage.”
