This course aims to “impart knowledge and practice on watchmaking to collectors and enthusiasts”.

The Portuguese Institute of Watchmaking (IPR) announced the opening of registrations for the course “Tailors of Time”, which begins on March 7, in the city of Porto. This 12-month training provides a unique opportunity for enthusiasts and professionals to deepen their knowledge in the art of watchmaking.

Anyone can sign up, as you don’t need to have any previous training or be a keen enthusiast. The organizers emphasize that the important thing “is the taste for watchmaking and the desire to learn”.

At the end of the training it is intended that students will be able to maintain a simple mechanical watch for personal use, as well as understand its operation. In addition, they are also expected to acquire practice and knowledge about the operation of pendulum clocks, quartz clocks and watches with some complications.

The course will have as trainers the Master Watchmakers Américo Henriques and Pedro Coelho and guarantees a certificate of attendance.

For more information and registration, check the official website of the Portuguese Institute of Watchmaking.
