Portojóia 2022: Exponor has eyes set on a (more digital) future of Portuguese Jewellery
The main Iberian showcase for jewellery, goldsmithery and watchmaking already has a return date to Exponor for the presentation of technological advances and talents of new creators that are transforming the sector. With the motto “Togetherness”, the event will take place from 22 to 25 September.
After a unavoidable 2 year hiatus as a result of the pandemic, Exponor Exhibitions renews its mission to assert itself as a vehicle for the spreading of the trends that mark the dynamic Portuguese jewellery industry. The new edition of Portojóia 2022 has been planned for the 22nd to the 25th of September, at Exponor, in Matosinhos, with innovation, digital migration and inclusion as its key themes.
Globalisation and interculturality explain the inspiration behind the themes of the 31st edition of the exhibition. “Togetherness” represents a jewellery that is increasingly more open, innovative and inclusive, highlighting, through the use of almost 150 exhibitors and creators, new approaches and new visions, which have the collective as their driving force.
According to Amélia Estevão, marketing director at Exponor, “the constant evolution and international expansion of markets gives trade fairs the important role of reconnecting people and generating business opportunities, as well as driving the evolution of the sector, through shared knowledge and the launch of new sources of inspiration. Portojóia not only carries this premise to yet another edition, but also reaffirms before brands and professionals the support in their transitions to a 4.0 industry and to the digital environment – two of the most direct effects of the pandemic context – without neglecting respect for the more traditional forms of art”.
For the event’s new edition, “Trend Spot” will return, a space designed to exhibit the jewellery that best represents the four trends indicated by the organisation: Togetherness, Ancient Wisdom, Art as an Expression and Fairytales; as well as ‘Art & Jewels’, an initiative that aims to promote partnerships between jewellery and other creative sectors, e.g. fashion, decoration, illustration and ceramics.
Also in the spotlight will be the awarding of the “Best of – Revelation Student 2022 Award”, which honours talent and creativity in the sector, particularly to those who are still undergoing training. The winner will be announced at the Best Of Awards ceremony on 23 September.
It should be noted that the most recent edition of Portojóia, back in 2019, brought together around 10,000 visitors and 150 exhibitors, including 30 designers and 27 companies from Spain, Italy, Germany, Turkey, Brazil and Cape Verde.
