Dear reader,

Through a collaboration between Portugal Jewels and the Amália Rodrigues Foundation, siblings Joana and Alexandre Gomes have developed a new collection, “Amália e As Flores”, inspired by the Fado diva. The aim, they say, is to “preserve and reinterpret Portuguese traditions, adapting them to the modern and global context”.

The jewelry in the new collection is therefore inspired by Amália’s passion for flowers. “We chose the cherry blossom because Amália liked to say that she was born during cherry season. We designed the jewelry around these flowers and with accents that replicate their branches. Each jewel was designed to reflect Amália’s elegance and irreverent personality,” they add.

Alongside this great interview, we’ve included in this magazine an article about the Gondomar Assay Office. First opened in June 2023, JoiaPro toured the ultra-secure corridors of its facilities, on a visit guided by Paulo Mesquita (Head of the Porto and the Gondomar Branch Assay Offices) and Paulo Simões Ferreira (Head of Reception and Secretary for Porto and Gondomar).

We also attended the presentation of diplomas to the CINDOR students who had completed their internship at the TOUS jewelry workshop in Manresa. This was an opportunity to talk to Lubélia Marques, the brand’s country manager in Portugal, and Eunice Neves, director of CINDOR.

We also take stock of Alfândega Joias, which took place from May 10 to 12 at Alfândega do Porto, and Time To Watches, which took place in Geneva from April 12 to 14.

This and much more are in your JoiaPro. Thank you for continuing to be with us.
