APIO recognizes talent at the 17th Goldsmithing Competition
The opening session was led by the Director of the Maritime Museum, who, as host, emphasized the relevance of culture and heritage as drivers of artistic inspiration. He also highlighted the importance of the collaboration between the Museum and APIO, noting that this is the institution’s second association with the Competition, following a previous edition dedicated to the theme “The Sea”.
The competition featured a hybrid evaluation model, combining the assessment of a specialized jury with public voting, which included approximately 3,500 online votes, reinforcing the community’s engagement with contemporary goldsmithing.

- 🥈 Legacy of the Navy , by Rafael Silva
- 🥉 Beyond the Sea , by Bernardo Lourenço
Honorable Mentions were also awarded to the works Memória de Gama , by Miguel Correia , and São Gabriel , by Marcela Rodrigues . The piece “Além-Mar” also stood out as the most voted by the public , demonstrating its strong acceptance among visitors and followers of the initiative.
The shortlisted works are on display at the Maritime Museum until January 18th, offering the public the opportunity to experience firsthand the creative diversity and technical quality of contemporary Portuguese goldsmithing.
