Souto Moura creates Cauny watch

After Álvaro Siza Vieira and Rafael Moneo, it was Eduardo Souto Moura’s turn to collaborate with Cauny to create a wristwatch with his signature.

The new Cauny x Souto Moura comes in four versions: in steel and rose gold-plated steel, with dimensions of 38 mm, and in steel with dimensions of 32 mm. The light gray dial reinterprets Roman numerals in a modern way, with the axis at the same time as the numeral one. The case mixes polished steel with a brushed steel sideline. The same case which, thanks to the extra-thin Japanese movement, “is as thin as possible”.

The bracelet, made of German leather, has a circular top, without leaving the usual gaps in its connection to the watch. The pure sapphire glass that protects the dial is slightly domed, offering some depth to the ensemble and allowing light to reflect off the inner bezel, an effect enhanced by the polished steel on the upper face of the case.

Finally, the initials of Eduardo Souto Moura’s surname stand out, just below the reference to the brand. The case back is personalized with the engraving of the architect’s signature, the edition number, and the reference to the series of which the watch is part.
